About Me

Hello.  As you may have already guessed my name is Michael Whitt.  I live in Western Kentucky.  I am a proud father of a beautiful daughter.   I have been an IT Professional for almost 25 years.  Over my career I have worked as a Mainframe Operator, Network Administrator, Desktop Support Technician, Help Desk Technician, Web-Master, IT Project Manager and Software Developer.  I first got into computers when my parents bought a C64 shortly after they came out.  A couple years later I got my own 8088 and the rest is history.   I ran a computer BBS for about 5 years.  In the early 90s I wrote my own scripting language called SimCode.  While I can program in C, C++, C#, Pascal, Visual Basic, Ruby, PHP,  and Java currently my favorite language to develop with in Python.   I enjoy prototyping with Raspberry Pis, Arduino and Beaglebone Blacks.

I am an avid reader and have a collection of over 7500 Kindle ebooks (the majority I found for free).  My favorite genres are Science Fiction and Urban Fantasy.  When I am not programming, prototyping or reading I enjoy watching TV with my wife and daughter.   I enjoy gaming as well though I don’t play as much as I used to.  When I am playing I am most likely playing a Roguelike RPG or Strategy Game.

I enjoy messing with Linux, I use mostly Ubuntu and Linux Mint though I do play with KaliLinux from time to time.

I currently hold the following certifications: Microsoft Certified Professional (MCP), Microsoft Certified Desktop Support Technician (MCDST), Comptia A+, Comptia Network+, Comptia Server+, Help Desk 2000 Certified Help Desk Professional, and Certified Webmaster.
